Before I left Manila (or maybe until now), I was an advocate of Point-of-View Stand Up Comedy that my boy friends are passionate about. I religiously watched every single gig in the metro and tried my best to have them watched by my other sets of friends too. Somehow I succeeded, a lot of my friends became “fans”. I am also glad that even if I am no longer based in Manila, they still watch and hang out with my boys.

My life back then didn’t just mean gimmicks and night outs, I was also active in supporting NGOs and charity events by some groups and individuals. I love benefit shows so much that GB (my boy friend) set up a show called “Isip Bata” on the night of my birthday (2009) in one of our most frequented bars in the metro at the time (Ditzy Diner) coz he knew that I wanted to do something different on my 25th birthday. Our barkada threw a Jollibee Party for the children of Gawad Kalinga Payatas and the money we gathered from the show was used to buy school supplies for the kids. Some friends were also generous enough to donate other goods that we put in the loot bags to be given away. That was fun and I ‘d love to do it again in the future when I come home for good in the Philippines.

And what a better way to celebrate the season than combining 2 of my interests – Stand Up Comedy and Philanthropy.

My friends and the management of Tomato Kick in Katipunan came up with a show last December 28th for the benefit of Sendong victims.

Electric Fun

This is what I love about my boy friends. They may be funny and naughty but they have a heart. They use their talent for a good cause and I love them for that.

It was also like hitting 3 birds in one stone for me, coz apart from supporting comedy and charity, I was also able to see and bond with my friends who I have not seen in a long time.

Si Kuya Alex sikat na?! (Watch daw kayo Usapang Lalake on Studio 23 :P)

Too bad I wasn't able to invite my blogger friends to this event (I know you grabbed the opportunity to spend quality time with the family and I didn't want to demand for your time.. hehe!). I hope next time we can plan an event like this so we can bond and party too.  :)

  1. Hello AC! What a great way to both end 2011 and welcome 2012. Friends, party and charity, priceless. If you have charity activities such as this, may I request for an invite :) I am willing to help in any way I can.

  2. Hi Diane! Sure, I'll keep that in mind. Will contact you as soon as we plan for an event like this in the future. Thank you in advance. :) BTW, you may want to check this out: It's a friend's blog, for a noble cause. :)
